We are not inclined to even try to understand sex. We have to summon immense courage even to talk about it in public. What kind of fear is it that plagues us, so that we are not prepared to understand the force out of which the whole world is born? What is this fear? Why does sex alarm us so? People are saying I should not speak on this subject at all. I wonder why one should not discuss this subject? When this urge is already inherent in us, why should we not talk about it? Unless we can understand its behavior, can analyze it, how can we hope to raise it to a higher plane? By understanding it we can transform it, we can conquer it, we can sublimate it. Unless that happens, we will die and still we will be unable to free ourselves from the grip of sex.

What is needed is an understanding, not a suppression. The deeper the understanding, the higher human beings rise. The less the understanding, the more human beings try to suppress. There are never any successful and healthy results out of suppression. Sex is the greatest energy in human life. But one has not to stop at it. Sex has to be transmuted into superconsciousness.

"When you make love to a woman, the inner energy comes to a peak, it comes to a crescendo. At that crescendo, don't go on looking outside, otherwise you will miss something beautiful that is happening, something very mysterious that is happening inside: you are becoming a circle. Your two, male and female, are meeting, you are becoming Ardhanaarishwar [अर्द्धनारीश्वर]. In this moment, your whole body will vibrate from the toes to the head. Every nerve of the body will vibrate with life, because this circle spreads all over the body. It is not sexual, it is more than sex. Watch it! Watch the reaching of the peak, the meeting of the inner energies. Then watch when the tide has gone and the abyss starts. Watch, by and by, the separation of the energies again. If you do it a few times, you will immediately become aware that the outer woman or man is not needed. This can be done without the outer, because this is happening without the outer - the outer is just a trigger-point. That trigger-point can be created inside. And once you know how, you can do it inside. But this has to be experienced, only then do you know - I cannot say how. You have to observe, watch, and then you will know how the energies come, how orgasm happens; how they separate again, and again the two arise. For a single moment the one happens in you. That's why there is so much attraction in sex, that's why so much pleasure is derived out of orgasm - because for a single moment you become one, the two disappears. And in the moment of orgasm there is no mind. If mind is there orgasm cannot happen. In the moment of orgasm, not a single thought... the whole prism is put aside. You are, but without thoughts. You exist, but with no mind. This happens only for such a single moment that you can miss it easily; you have been missing it for many lives. It is such a small gap that if you are interested outside, you have missed it."

एक क्षण के लिए तुम एक हो जाते हो, दो का भेद समाप्त हो जाता है, तुम्हारे लिए समय तथा मन की चाल रुक जाती है, तुम्हारा मस्तिष्क विचार शून्य हो जाता है। ऐसा न होने की दशा में सम्भोग के शीर्ष को छू पाना सम्भव नहीं। उस दौरान तुम्हारे सभी विचार ऐसे तिरोहित हो जाते हैं जैसे वे तुम्हारे लिए पूरी तरह व्यर्थ हों ! तुम उपस्थित होते हो, लेकिन बिना किसी विचार के। तुम वहां होते हुए भी नहीं होते। ऐसा केवल क्षण भर के लिए ही घटित होता है, जिसे आसानी से चूका जा सकता है। यह अन्तराल इतना क्षणिक है कि अनेक जन्मों से तुम चूके जा रहे हो।

हमने सेक्स को सिवाय अपशब्दों के आज तक दूसरा कोई सम्मान नहीं दिया। हम तो इस पर बात करने में भी भयभीत होते हैं। हमने इसे इस भांति छिपा कर रख दिया है जैसे यह है ही नहीं, जैसे जीवन में इसका कोई स्थान है ही नहीं। जबकि सच्चाई तो यह है कि इससे अधिक महत्वपूर्ण मनुष्य के जीवन में और कुछ भी नहीं है, परन्तु इसे छुपाया गया है, इसको दबाया गया है। परिणामस्वरूप मनुष्य सेक्स से मुक्त नहीं हो पाया, बल्कि मनुष्य और भी बुरी तरह से सेक्स से ग्रसित हो गया है। काम, जो कि समस्त संसार में उत्पत्ति का एकमात्र माध्यम है, के विषय में जो भी भ्रांतियां फैलाई गई हैं, इसके प्रति हमारी अज्ञानता की सूचना देती हैं। हमारे द्वारा प्रेम के मार्ग में खड़ी की गई बाधाएँ अगर हटा दी जाएं तो प्रेम की धारा को परमात्मा तक पहुँचने से कौन रोक सकता है! परन्तु हम इसके बारे में जानना-समझना ही नहीं चाहते। हममें इस विषय पर बात तक करने का साहस नहीं है। यह किस प्रकार का भय है जो हमें सच्चाई तक पहुँचने से रोक रहा है ?

ज़रूरत है स्वीकार की, न कि विरोध अथवा दमन की। स्वीकार की गहराई जितनी अधिक होगी मानवता उतने ही अधिक ऊँचे शिखर पर होगी। अज्ञानता के साथ दमन करने की प्रवृत्ति भी बढ़ती है तथा दमन के परिणाम कभी भी फलदायी एवं गुणकारी नहीं होते। काम मानवी जीवन की सबसे बड़ी ऊर्जा है। इसे रोकने से कुछ भी हासिल न होगा, बल्कि हमें इसका रूपान्तरण परम चेतना के रूप में करना होगा।
