Often when reading a book, we fully decide to apply what we need to our lives. All too often though, weeks later, we have forgotten our good intentions. Here are five practical ways to turn good intentions into practical habits.
1. READ ANY PMA BOOK MORE THAN ONCELet us encourage you to personalize and internalize these principles which have generated a turning point in the lives of many people by reading from cover-to-cover, then at least once again.
2. UNDERLINE AND MAKE NOTESHave a pen and a highlighter in your hand. Underline specific lines and paragraphs - a simple act that will triple your retention rate. Write your own thoughts in the margins and make it your book.
3. RE-READ YOUR UNDERLINESBy underlining and highlighting, you can quickly review key items and portions of the book. Then read your key points over and over again.
4. APPLY THE INFORMATION IMMEDIATELYThere is an old saying, “Hear something . . . you forget it. See something . . . you remember it. Do something . . . you understand it.” Apply what you learn as soon as you possibly can . . . it helps you understand and remember it.
5. PRIORITIZE WHAT YOU WANT TO LEARNSelect 2-4 things from the book, apply them faithfully and make them a habit.
Remember every person alive struggles with turning their good intentions into habits. Using these five points will turn wishing into doing and into habits. As we know, many successful people in the past have traced a new, exciting, profitable chapter in their lives to the reading of a specific book. We want that to happen to you!
