Fix upon your ideal of what you wish to make of yourself. Consider well and be sure to make the right choice that is most satisfactory to you in a general way. Do not pay too much attention to the advice or suggestions of those around you. Do not believe that anyone can know better than yourself what is right for you. Listen to what others have to say, but always form your own conclusions. Close your ears to all adverse suggestions. Do not worry if people call you a fool or a dreamer. Dream on. Remember that even when he was a half-starved lieutenant, Napoleon Bonaparte always saw himself as the general of armies and the master of France. He became in outward realization what he held himself to be in his mind. And so likewise will you.

Wallace Delois Wattles was an American author and a New Thought writer. Although he remains somewhat obscure, his writing has been widely quoted and his works remain in print in the New Thought and self-help movements. Wattles' best-known work is a book called "The Science of Getting Rich," which was first published in 1910 and explains how to become wealthy. In an interview with Newsweek, Rhonda Byrne, the creator of the 2006 hit film "The Secret" and the subsequent book by the same name, stated that her inspiration for the film came from Wattles's "The Science of Getting Rich." Byrne's daughter, Hayley, had given her a copy of the book to help her recover from a breakdown. The film also popularized the term "The Law of Attraction," which originated from another New Thought author, William Walker Atkinson, in his 1908 book titled "Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World."
